JTAG Interfaces ...

How does the software actually communicate to my target?

Macraigor Systems offers several interfaces that allow your code to test your target. The typical interface that most people use is the usb2Demon although all the devices will work ...

usb2Demon™...

Connects to USB 1.1 and USB 2 (Hi-Speed) systems ...

The usb2Demon™ is a mid-cost interface used in the design, debug, and programming of microprocessor based embedded systems. One side of the usb2Demon interfaces to the USB port of a host IBM compatible PC and the other side connects to an OCD (On-Chip Debug) port of the target system. This port may be JTAG, E-JTAG, OnCE, COP, BDM or any of several other types of connections. When connected to a USB 2.0 port on your PC, the usb2Demon will run up to Hi-Speed USB rates (480Mb/s). You can purchase a usb2Demon here.

mpDemon™...

The mpDemon™ gives you several choices of connections for either JTAG or BDM debugging. It supports Parallel Port, RS-232, and Ethernet for the host side connection. Our fastest device, the mpDemon™ is compatible with Windows and Linux debuggers.

Macraigor Systems' mpDemon™ provides the embedded systems developer with the most advanced and intelligent target available for target on-chip debugging. The mpDemon™ supports the widest range of target chips on the market as well as the Macraigor Systems' API, a software interface used by most of the popular host debuggers. You can purchase an mpDemon here.
